service as we call it

June 28, 2010

It was always like this. I never thought that this will stop improving itself.  I was disappointed pressing all those options and getting nothing in return. Forget about the response. It was something like this “Press 2 for sales” , “Press 3 for enquiry”, “Press 4 if you feel like hitting your head against a wall”, “Press 5 for songs that will blow up your head” .. the list goes on.. and there was an automated voice (voice of a woman in most of the cases) saying “Your call is important to us, please be with us, our representative will be with you shortly”. The actual meaning is something like this, “ Please be with us if you can, other wise you have always the untold option of hangin up the phone..”.

I think you guys can guess what I want to say. Yes I was fighting with some problems with my **** (I don’t want to disclose this, as it is irrelevant to the point I’m going to make), so I called the customer service number which was not so easy to find out.. I’m proud to myself that I found that number at last. And after waiting for almost half an hour I got a real person at the other end. He then tried to solve my problem as far as possible… by asking about me, not my problem… I mean I tried to make him understand that I am a real person with some real problems. And almost after an hour or so I found that I didn’t get any solution for my problem, I’ve already tried all those steps before calling him for more help. So I wasted one hour seeking help from them who are unable to help.

But this is not what I wanted to say exactly. The point is how effectively we are getting the service we need. I think everybody has a mixed experience of these things. One of my friends was having some problems with his mobile phone and he contacted the service centre for help. Those service center guys took 4 to 6 days just to analyze the problems. Solving would need more time.
